Katelyn (Katie) Francis gained national attention for her shooting talent before she was old enough for a driver’s license.
A video featuring Katie titled “Fight Like A Girl. Watch This Little Girl Shoot Like A BOSS” went viral when she was just 13-years-old. Since then Katie’s shooting has only improved as she competes in three-gun events with her trusted ACR, Benelli 12 gauge, and S&W 9mm.
Katie’s father, Sgt. First Class Chad Francis, is a shooter himself and serves as the state marksmanship coordinator for the Missouri Army National Guard. SFC Francis started teaching his daughter about firearms when she was just 5-years-old.
“Dad taught there’s 10 gun safety rules,” Katie said in an NRA interview. “He made me say them over and over again. My dad’s a real stickler about making me always be safe.”
After months of pestering her father to go hunting and shooting, Katie was given her first .22 caliber rifle. At age 10 she started working with a 9mm handgun.
The father-daughter duo has been shooting together competitively since 2010.
